Thousands of homes, millions in incentives on deck for Georgetown neighborhood modeled after Italian village

One of the biggest mixed-use developments in Georgetown history is closer to becoming a reality — with millions of dollars in local incentives at play.

Georgetown City Council on Tuesday gave initial zoning approval to a planned unit development called Wolf Lakes Village that would feature retail space, parkland, offices for corporate tenants and up to 2,500 residential units.

Council also gave the initial OK to an economic incentive framework that could reimburse the developers up to $130 million in the coming decades. Both were approved on first reading, meaning they are due for another Council vote on Dec. 11.

Williamson County commissioners must also vote on the incentives, likely on Dec. 18. Construction on Wolf Lakes is expected to start in 2019.
