The University of Texas System Board of Regents approved allocating $70 million to the University of Texas at San Antonio for two new downtown structures.
One of the planned new structures is a National Security Collaboration Center. The $33 million facility will span 80,000 square feet and house innovation, laboratory and research facility space. It will serve as a hub for government, university and industry partners in the cybersecurity field with a focus on forensics, visualization and analytics, network security, cyber training, workforce development, big data analytics and privacy. It will also provide a new base for work in post-quantum cryptography, cyber physical systems and embedded security, security of the cloud, attack and threat modeling and mitigation, machine learning and artificial intelligence, platform and software integrity, and hardware integrity.
Several prominent businesses, including Parsons, Raytheon, Booz Allen Hamilton, Noblis and Accenture have expressed interest in being part of the new center.
